Research Assistant or Research Fellow in Medical Statistics / Epidemiology (CHAMNHA project)

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Fellow to join the environmental epidemiology research team to conduct quantitative research on a large collaborative project funded by the Belmont Forum, assessing the health effects of climate change on maternal and neonatal health in sub-Saharan Africa (CHAMNHA). The position will be held within the Department of Public Health Environments and Society, located in the Faculty of Public Health and Policy at LSHTM.

The post-holder will require a background in epidemiology, medical statistics or similar data sciences (MSc for Research Assistant or ideally a doctoral degree for Research Fellow), and should have experience in analysing quantitative data and working with health or environmental data in research, and using statistical software (R or STATA). In addition, for an appointment as Research Fellow contributions to papers will be required.  Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time and is available for 2 years from 1 September 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter, until maximum 31 August 2022 with possibility for extension subject to funding.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale at Grade 5 (Research Assistant) £34,854-£40,011 or Grade 6 (Research Fellow), at £40,011 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
