Assistant Professor in Health Economics

Assistant Professor in Health Economics, to work with Andrew Briggs, recently appointed as Professor of Health economics at LSHTM. The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop a career in health economic evaluation, utilising statistical and decision analytic modelling methods to inform policy. The postholder will work with Professor Briggs to develop a research agenda related to oncology.  New oncology medications are among the most challenging for health services internationally, often being approved by regulators under accelerated access arrangements with the result that the evidence base to support reimbursement is limited, while the cost of the treatments can be substantial.

The appointee must have: a doctoral degree in health economics, economics, health econometrics, biostatistics, medical statistics, epidemiology or related areas, or a related field; experience in applying advanced decision analytic methods to support health economic evaluation of health care interventions, and evidence of excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate orally and in writing. Further particulars can be found in the Job Description.

The appointee will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching and participating in Faculty and wider School activities.

This full-time post is for three years. The salary will be on the Assistant Professor salary scale (Grade 7), £46,704 to £53,495 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting).

The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
