The post will be based at The Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia (the Unit), a faculty of LSHTM.
The Vaccines and Immunity Theme hosts a diverse range of projects including basic laboratory immunology, serology, microbiology and genomics, through early-and-late phase vaccine trials, epidemiological, data, and social science research. We have an increasingly diverse programme of research covering pathogens and diseases of public health importance both globally and in West Africa including those with epidemic potential.
The post-holder will have a doctoral degree in a relevant subject along with a doctoral vaccinology experience ideally including clinical vaccines trials and/or the coordination of other complex vaccine or related field trials. Experience of attracting research grant income from major research funders, contributing as lead and co-author to peer-reviewed outputs, supervising and supporting junior researchers is essential. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a research team and having a strong understanding of the practical application of ICH-GCP with experience in writing and reviewing SOPs and other documents required for research is essential. A medical degree and/or higher medical qualification including academic college memberships or fellowships is desirable.
The post is full time 35-hours per week, 1.0FTE and fixed-term until 31 March 2027. The post is funded by MRCG at LSHTM and is available immediately.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 8 in the range £62,028 - £71,192 per annum. The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in The Gambia at MRCG at LSHTM.
