Research Fellow (0.5 FTE)

London International Development Centre

Salary:  £40,011 to £45,437 per annum, pro rata.

The London International Development Centre (LIDC), a collaborative initiative between seven University of London institutions, is recruiting a Research Fellow. 

The role holder will:

  • produce high-quality outputs for publication in peer-reviewed journals. 
  • undertake narrative reviews of literature to guide analysis and interpretation of data. 
  • generate and implement research ideas independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a research team.
  • disseminate and explain findings to both academic and non-academic audiences.
  • explore connections between multiple research themes that can range from childhood stunting to antimicrobial resistance. 

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in global health or international development and significant experience of working in a higher education environment and coordinating research. Further, the ideal candidate will need to have excellent written and oral communications skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and proactively, taking the initiative to solve difficulties and issues whilst delivering a large output of work.

The Research Fellow will report to the Director of LIDC. The post holder will be a member of staff of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and will work as a team with other Centre-based core staff and in partnership with the administrations of LIDC’s seven Colleges. 

The post is fixed-term until 31 July 2021 in the first instance, with the possibility of an extension.

The salary will be on the professional salary scale Grade 6 (0.5 FTE) in the range £40,011 to £45,437 pro rata per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London International Development Centre (20 Bloomsbury Square, London WC1A 2NS).
