The Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition is seeking a Partnerships and Events Officer to be part of a Secretariat team supporting the Global Panel; a small group of influential independent experts who have a commitment to tackling global challenges in food and nutrition security.  The Panel is co-chaired by Prof Sir John Beddington, former UK Chief Scientific Adviser, and H.E. John Kufuor, former President of Ghana.  It is hosted by the London International Development Centre (LIDC).

The Global Panel Secretariat’s Partnerships and Events Officer will work with, and provide support to the Director and Deputy Director to ensure the effective management of the project. The post holder will serve as the liaison between the Director, Deputy Director and other members of staff and consultants, to lead on the development of external partnerships within the agriculture and nutrition sector and the delivery of high-level workshops and round-table events in an international environment. A key area of focus will be strengthening stakeholder engagement activity and working directly with Panel members, Representatives, and other key partners to increase the visibility and impact of the Global Panel’s work, develop strategic partnerships, and promote collaboration with other actors in the sector. 

The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a small, busy office environment. This post requires excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of senior stakeholders in a highly international environment.  The post holder will be proactive and have strong administrative skills and be comfortable with a varied, dynamic job. This post will require extensive international communication and travel in order to carry out these duties. Further particulars can be found in the attached job description.

The post is full time and fixed-term until 31 March 2021, and candidates will preferably be available for an immediate start.  The salary is on the Professional salary scale Grade 5 in the range £34,854 to £40,011 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post is subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition, there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based at 20 Bloomsbury Square, London.
