Research Assistant

Department of Infection Biology

Salary:  £34,854 to £40,011 per annum, inclusive.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant who will work on a Wellcome Trust-funded research project, which aims to understand the virus- and human population-associated factors that underlie the evolution and transmission of norovirus strains, associated with pandemic emergence. The post-holder will primarily undertake bespoke immunological assays (ELISA) to determine the level of immunity in the UK population to norovirus, and how this population immunity changes over time, as well as supporting other aspects of the project. 

The successful applicant will have a MSc degree in a relevant field either awarded or imminent; demonstrated wet-laboratory experience in molecular biology; experience working with clinical specimens of human origin; demonstrated competency in information technology and computer literacy; willingness to work at and travel between collaborator institutes within London; evidence of good organisational skills, including effective time management. This full-time post, based in London, is funded by Wellcome Trust until 31st January 2021. Salary is on the Academic Pathways Grade 5 scale in the range £34,854 - £40,011 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
