The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Health Psychology/Behavioural Interventions.

The post holder will be a health psychologist with a doctoral degree completed or to be completed within 6 months and have expertise in behavioural interventions to provide support to several related projects on chronic disease self-management in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs). Further particulars are included in the Job description.

The post holder will primarily work across two projects. The first is a randomised trial evaluating a behavioural educational intervention (involving films) for gestational diabetes in India and Uganda. Secondly, the postholder will contribute to a new project establishing a virtual hub to improve the quality of training and quality assurance of less skilled workers providing self-management support to people with chronic conditions in LMICs. This will involve reviewing and identifying learnings from several existing projects on this topic, refining these findings from a behavioural science perspective, and finally collaborating with a team to produce a virtual ‘hub’ to support the design of effective and sustainable programs in LMICs.

The post is based in London Keppel Street and is full time and fixed-term for 18 months.

The salary will be on the Academic pathways Grade 6 in the range £40,011 – £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff.
