The Vaccine Confidence Project (VCP) monitors attitudes towards vaccines through diverse data streams and aims to detect early warning signals of confidence losses in vaccines. As the world begins the rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine, the VCP is actively engaged in data collection through various streams (traditional surveys, social media monitoring, etc) and is looking to increase its capacity to provide robust public health messaging to national and international policymakers and stakeholders.

The Vaccine Confidence Project is seeking to recruit one Research Fellow with strong media monitoring and analytics backgrounds for our vaccination study. The aim of this study is to explore experiences and views towards vaccination.

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree or equivalent in a relevant field (public health, sociology, anthropology, social psychology, epidemiology). Experience in conducting qualitative research, including qualitative data analysis. Experience of working in a higher education, health or science environment. A demonstrable understanding of vaccine hesitancy. Experience of working in a vaccination programme or in researching vaccines/vaccination programmes is desirable. The post is full time and fixed-term for 12 months with possibility of an extension depending on funding availability.

The salary will be on the Academic pathways Grade 6 in the range £40,011 to £45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine
