The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. We are seeking an experienced researcher in spatial epidemiology and/or data science to develop and deliver a research portfolio that supports estimating closer-to-reality travel time, geographic accessibility and uptake of emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC), as well as improved reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) outcomes in LMIC settings, especially in urbanized and built-up areas. The post-holder will be supervised by Dr Banke-Thomas and will join a supportive, multi-disciplinary research group to work on the On Tackling In-transit delays for Mothers in Emergency (OnTIME) project’s identified immediate priorities.
The post-holder must have a doctoral degree in a relevant topic and expertise in spatial epidemiology and geostatistical methods in the field of RMNCH in LMIC settings, including in urban environments. Experience of developing collaborative and reproducible code for data analysis and statistical inference would be an advantage. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The post is part-time 5.25 hours per week, 0.15 FTE and fixed-term until 30 November 2024. The post is available immediately.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 7 in the range £51,299- £58,723 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
