The Department of Population Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London International Development Centre (LIDC), a collaborative initiative between seven University of London institutions, are recruiting a highly motivated and experienced Research Fellow Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) to work for the newly awarded UKRI GCRF Action against Stunting Hub.

The post holder will manage and implement the UKRI GCRF Action against Stunting Hub’s MEL approach. The duties (among others) will involve managing the Hub’s MEL work, including developing theories of change and logframes, identifying appropriate methods, data collection and analysis, reporting and reflection. Further, to collect and analyse data, including desk research of literature, collecting and digitally processing numerical data, text analysis of qualitative data, etc. The role holder will be expected to lead and manage capacity development and MEL mentoring within the Hub and in-country partners, providing support on topics such as evaluation methods and study design, synthesis and reviews, research transparency initiatives, and evidence uptake and use. 

The role holder will work closely with colleagues in the London International Development Centre (LIDC) and the Department of Population Health within the Faculty of Epidemiology & Population Health at LSHTM. 

The ideal candidate should have a relevant University degree plus Master’s degree in social sciences, international development or a related field. In addition, the candidate will need to show a substantial amount of directly relevant work experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning. Excellent Excel skills as well as knowledge of data management systems and procedures are necessary. They need to have excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

This post is available on a full-time basis commencing as soon as possible, for one year in the first instance with a possibility to extend depending on funding. The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 6 in the range £40,011-£45,437 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London International Development Centre (20 Bloomsbury Square, London WC1A 2NS).
