The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking to appoint a Project Manager in the Department of Global Health and Development to work on a Wellcome Trust funded project, "Not Enough and Too Many: Professional Personhood among Africa’s paradoxically surplus health workers". The project is a mixed-methods study across West, East and Southern Africa investigating the causes and consequences of unemployment, underemployment and precarious employment among doctors and nurses in Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia.
The post-holder will be expected to work on negotiation of contracts and setting up research grants. They will have responsibility for strategic management and control of budgets within different streams of the project, including drafting and updating budgets and reforecasts, advising Principal Investigators on allocation of financial resources, and producing financial reports. They will work with the Research Fellow to set up and maintain a project website.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or have extensive relevant experience, have project management experience including managing multi-million-pound projects with multiple partners and workstreams, and be familiar with funding terms and conditions. The post is part-time 21 hours per week, 0.6 FTE and fixed term until 31 August 2030. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is available immediately.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
