The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are recruiting an epidemiologist to join an exciting research programme on infections and brain health funded by the Wellcome Trust. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research into relationships between infections and aspects of brain health including mental health using linked electronic health records data. The post offers an excellent opportunity to design and conduct studies involving analysis of large-scale health data from the UK using robust causal inference methods. Based in London at LSHTM, the post-holder will be embedded within the Electronic Health Records Research Group and will work closely with external collaborators.

The post-holder must have a relevant first degree in the field of medicine or public health and expected to have experience of managing and analysing data from electronic health records for epidemiological studies on topics such as infections and mental health. The post requires strong quantitative skills with expertise in a common statistical package such as Stata or R. A commitment to multi-disciplinary and collaborative working is also essential. The ideal candidate would also have direct experience of using the Clinical Practice Research Datalink. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time, 1 FTE and fixed-term for 12 months. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and is available immediately.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 £39,984 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
