Are you a tax manager interested in a new challenge in a world-leading health-focused HEI?

We are looking for someone who can develop and implement a new tax strategy, with a particular focus on VAT/GST for online and other education activities.

This is a new role in which the post-holder will be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing and communicating a tax strategy, with an emphasis on online education
  • Leading efforts to ensure LSHTM continues to be compliant with all aspects of VAT and corporation tax compliance
  • Providing expert advice to colleagues on VAT and corporation tax, such as around eligibility for VAT relief
  • Reviewing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
  • Advising finance colleagues on technical taxation matters
  • Developing and delivering training on internal tax guidance notes, processes and policies.

You will be the key advisor within LSHTM, advising senior management on a new tax strategy and then implementing it. You will also be responsible for ensuring LSHTM’s compliance with all aspects of VAT and corporation tax, including liaising with external advisors when required. In addition to preparing the quarterly VAT returns and month end adjustments, you will also be involved in developing training and guidance to colleagues regarding tax processes in line with sector best practice.

You should hold a Professional qualification (ideally CTA) or relevant tax experience in providing tax advice in a large and complex organisation (preferably with partial exemption arrangement) or in practice. You should also hold excellent organisational and planning skills. Further particulars are included in the job description.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and permanent.

The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 7 in the range £52,581 - £60,191 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. Please note that if you are shortlisted and are unable to attend on the interview date it may not be possible to offer you an alternative date.
