The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking an enthusiastic and productive team member, with an interest in learning new skills and in working with colleagues from a range of backgrounds to advance the research agenda on sexually transmitted infections (STI) in England and worldwide. The post-holder will join a supportive team conducting a range of studies looking at innovative approaches to reduce the burden of morbidity and mortality due to Syphilis and other STIs.
The post-holder will be directly responsible for designing and leading genomic epidemiology studies focused on syphilis and collaborating on studies focused on using genomics to understand pathogenesis and vaccine development. There will be excellent opportunities for publication, for collaboration and for participation in future grant applications and outputs crucial to public health decisions.
The postholder will have a doctoral degree in a relevant topic and considerable experience in bio-informatics and pathogen sequencing. Experience of data collection and ethics procedures would be desirable, along with experience in conducting quantitative analysis of infectious disease data. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term until 30 November 2029. The post is funded by NIHR and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and is available from December 2024.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway Grade 7 salary scale at £52,199 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
