Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Dynamics

Salary:  £39,182 to £44,847 per annum, inclusive.

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are looking for two enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Assistants to join the world-leading tuberculosis (TB) Modelling group. The successful candidates will contribute to projects within the group, including manipulation of TB mathematical models in R to examine the optimal combination of TB interventions across multiple countries, and the effect of subclinical TB on the potential impact of TB vaccines. 

The post-holders will have a relevant first degree in the field of Epidemiology (or similar degree with quantitative, public health or biomedical focus), along with some experience in mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. Relevant analytical skills and experience in mathematical modelling of Tuberculosis is essential. Working knowledge of a programming language (e.g., R, Python) is desirable. The posts are full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term for one year. The post is funded by the Wellcome Trust and available from 15 January 2025. 

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway scale Grade 5 in the range £39,182 - £44,847 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
