Library, Archive & Open Research Services (LAORS) at LSHTM is looking for a part-time Library Assistant to staff the Library in-person in the late evenings 3 days a week and on alternate weekends.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their skills and experience across a number of responsibilities in a wide-ranging role.
All duties are delivered on-site, providing face-to-face services to users from the Enquiries Desk and support to remote users online via our Live Chat service and our ServiceDesk portal, and undertaking tasks and projects relating to Open Research Services (or other areas of the service as needed). The post supports and assists all aspects of the delivery of library services, ensuring an excellent standard of customer service.
You will have proven experience of working successfully in a library, and demonstrable knowledge of issues relating to the delivery of library services. You should possess excellent communication skills, and be customer focused. Further particulars are included in the job description.
The role is required to work on-site in the Library 32 weeks/15 weekends during term time, 20.00-23.00 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 16.30-20.00 on alternate weekends (both Saturday and Sunday). You will not usually be required to work during vacations or during the Library’s summer hours. In addition, you will be required to work 16.30-20.00 on the May Bank Holiday Monday (early May) and the Spring Bank Holiday Monday (late May). The post is part-time 0.219 FTE and permanent.
The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 3 in the range £28,614-£32,307per annum pro-rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
