The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. The successful applicant will be expected to lead, manage and be responsible for all aspects of the administrative coordination and financial management for the CONCORD-Lancet Global Commission on Cancer. As a key member of the Cancer Survival Group in the Department of Non-communicable Disease Epidemiology, and the first point of contact for the Commission within and outside the School, the post-holder will provide guidance to the LSHTM co-Chairs of the Commission, Prof Claudia Allemani and Prof Michel Coleman, on management, administration, communications and potential funding sources, working closely with the other two co-Chairs of the Commission in Brazil and India, and liaising with various partner institutions.
Applicants must possess substantial experience of providing proactive administrative support for international cancer research programmes, including proven ability to use their own initiative and judgement to solve problems; to manage a busy workload; to produce accurate and timely progress reports and meeting summaries for colleagues and funders; and to work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Higher education to degree level or equivalent or substantial relevant experience is essential.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 August 2027. The post is funded by Cancer Research UK and is available immediately.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,984 - £45,728 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
