The Pharmacy First Evaluation (PFE) team is looking to appoint a research fellow (RF) for maternity leave cover. PFE aims to assess the impact of Pharmacy First (PF) on health services, antimicrobial resistance, prescribing safety, and patient outcomes and preferences. LSHTM is leading the study in collaboration with research teams at Nottingham, Oxford, UKHSA and Manchester with expertise in mixed-method policy evaluation, antimicrobial resistance, pharmacy practice research, primary care research, etc. The postholder will be required primarily but not exclusively to undertake qualitative data analysis, supporting patient and public involvement, and other activities related to the successful completion of this evaluation.
Candidates must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic and will have some experience of multi-disciplinary, policy and/or programme evaluative research, along with experience of analysing and synthesising qualitative data, peer reviewed research and/or policy documents. The postholder will have a good knowledge of important aspects of the NHS, and/or health care policy and practice.
The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 January 2027 with the possibility of a 3-month extension. The post is funded by the NIHR Policy Research Programme and is available from 01 May 2026.
The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
