The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. The Pharmacy First Evaluation (PFE) team is looking to appoint a Research Fellow (RF). PFE aims to assess the impact of Pharmacy First (PF) on health services, antimicrobial resistance, prescribing safety, and patient outcomes and preferences. LSHTM is leading the study in collaboration with research teams at Nottingham, Oxford, UKHSA and Manchester with expertise in mixed-method policy evaluation, antimicrobial resistance, pharmacy practice research, primary care research, etc. The post-holder will primarily undertake data extraction, data management, and advanced quantitative analyses, as well as liaising with the other research teams, supporting patient and public involvement, and other activities related to the successful completion of this evaluation.

The post-holder must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic and some experience of data extracts and data management of electronic health record data, ideally from the UK, as well as a track-record of peer reviewed research publications and/or policy documents. The post-holder will have a good knowledge of important aspects of current UK or English public health, the NHS, and/or health care policy and practice.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed-term until 31 December 2026. The post is funded by the NIHR Policy Research Programme and is available from 01 January 2026.

The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £45,728 - £51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
