            <p id="isPasted">The London School of Hygiene &amp; Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world&rsquo;s leading public health universities. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor to join the Department for Infectious Disease Epidemiology &amp; Dynamics (IDED), working with Prof Rachel Lowe and Prof Adam Kucharski. The post-holder will contribute to an ambitious programme of research focused on forecasting climate-sensitive mosquito-borne infections. This will involve developing novel hybrid epidemic forecasting models that combine mechanistic dynamics with modern statistical and AI-based approaches. The successful candidate will work closely with collaborators at UK Health Security Agency as well as partners across the Caribbean and Pacific Islands to develop practical outbreak forecasting tools for public health decision-making. As well as statistical and machine learning methodology, the work will include development of crowd-sourced prediction systems, and open-source forecasting software to support outbreak preparedness.</p><p>Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant quantitative discipline and demonstrate expertise in modelling vector-borne infections and R package development. The successful applicant should have experience of primary data collection in Latin America and/or the Asia-Pacific region, collaboration with health agencies and conversational proficiency in French/Spanish. Further particulars are included in the job description.</p><p>The post is full-time and fixed-term until 30 April 2029. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available from 01 September 2026.</p><p>The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 7 in the range &pound;53,317 - &pound;54,747 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. &nbsp;Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary &ldquo;Wellbeing Days&rdquo;. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>The UK Public Health Rapid Support Team (UK-PHRST) is a flagship partnership between LSHTM and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), delivering outbreak response, operational research and capacity strengthening in low-and middle-income countries (LMICs).</p><p>We are seeking an exceptional and internationally respected leader to serve as Deputy Director of UK-PHRST and Head of the UK-LMIC Research Partnership. The postholder will lead the UK-LMIC Research Partnership team at LSHTM.&nbsp;</p><p>Working closely with the Director (based at UKHSA), the successful candidate will support strategic leadership for UK-PHRST across its triple mandate and represent the programme with governments, multilateral agencies, funders and international partners. The role requires an individual who combines scientific and operational credibility with political judgement, diplomatic skill and the ability to lead effectively across academic, governmental and emergency response settings.</p><p>This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior global health leader with substantial experience in outbreak response, applied research and international partnership working to shape one of the UK&rsquo;s leading global health security programmes.</p><p>The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, microbiology, social science, public health or a related field. Further particulars are included in the job description.</p><p>The&nbsp;appointment is full-time and fixed-term until 31 March 2029.&nbsp;A two-year extension is possible, subject to overall programmatic performance and confirmation of continued Government funds. The post is available immediately.</p><p>The salary will be on the Professorial salary scale in the range &pound;74,139-&pound;97,647 per annum pro-rata (inclusive of London Weighting).
