Library, Archive & Open Research Services (LAORS) is looking for an Assistant Librarian who is an experienced information literacy teacher to expand the existing Information Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to actively contribute to the development of the annual information skills programme during a time of exciting change in LSHTM’s education programmes. This post will be responsible for ensuring developments in universal design principles and accessible pedagogy are successfully integrated into the programme. 

The post-holder will also contribute to the evidence-synthesis literature searching service which provides support to staff undertaking evidence synthesis projects and collaborates with research teams to create literature searches to published methodological standards.  

You will hold a recognised postgraduate degree in library & information science. It is essential that you have proven experience of effectively delivering information literacy teaching and support to adults informed by universal design for learning or accessibility best practice, preferably in a higher education or medical library environment. Being customer focused with the ability to work together with service users from diverse backgrounds and life experiences are also essential. 

The post holder is required to work 09:00-17:00 Monday-Friday. All full-time LAORS staff work a minimum of 2 days on site per week but may be required to work additional days on site as the nature of the role or demand on the service dictates.

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term for 24 months.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine as a Quality Assurance Manager, playing a pivotal role in shaping and embedding quality assurance strategy for clinical trials and high-risk interventional research. Working within the Research Governance and Integrity Office, you will lead the development of robust quality systems, support regulatory compliance, and help ensure that LSHTM-sponsored research meets the highest standards of scientific integrity, participant safety and governance.

We are seeking an experienced and proactive team member who will be responsible for providing efficient administrative, logistical and financial support for a portfolio of research projects with multiple international collaborators based in Africa, Australasia, and Europe.

The post-holder will develop a strong understanding of funder terms and conditions, provide sound advice, and ensure compliance with these requirements and with LSHTM policies and procedures. Research project funders include, EDCTP and the Gates Foundation.

The post-holder will join an enthusiastic and highly productive team who work on projects in the research areas of Neglected Tropical Diseases, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Group A Streptococcus, Respiratory Virus & Emerging Infections, and UK Infectious Disease Trials. The post-holder will be line managed by the Project Manager, and will also report to Professor Michael Marks, lead Principal Investigator of the research project portfolio.  

The successful candidate will have a Higher education to degree level or equivalent or substantial relevant experience, relevant experience in managing and providing support to EC/EDCTP-funded research projects including a familiarity with funder terminology, significant experience of providing administrative/financial support for research projects. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a major concern for health and health equity around the globe. IMPACT AMR is a transdisciplinary network funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) funding as part of its work to tackle infections. The IMPACT AMR network brings together national and international researchers, practitioners, policy makers, citizens and other stakeholders to support the prioritisation of interventions to control and manage AMR. The Network Manager – Maternity Cover role is critical to the network’s success. They will be responsible for building, maintaining and fostering a multi-country community, creating and maintaining platforms through which to achieve this, including developing and curating high profile events and a website, requiring a high level of scientific understanding as well as project management experience. 

The successful applicant must possess scientific expertise, ideally in the field of antimicrobial resistance, as well as experience of providing proactive administrative support of academic research, including proven ability to monitor budgets and prepare accurate costings, projections and reports; ability to use initiative and judgement to solve problems; to manage a busy workload; and work to a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. As a member of the UK-PHRST Senior Management Team, the post holder will provide strategic leadership for the delivery of its ambitious UK–LMIC Research Partnership. They will lead the strategy and delivery of outcomes for the Knowledge Translation and Policy Uptake and Global Science Capability and Collaboration workstreams, and establish and strengthen equitable global partnerships. The role will involve high-level policy engagement, capability sharing, programme-wide communications and research, as well as representing the UK-PHRST in influential global and regional forums. The post holder will work closely with a wide range of partners, including ministries of health, UN agencies, research institutions, and funders.

Applicants should be experienced leaders with a strong understanding of the global landscape for science-policy action on issues in sectors relating to outbreak response, infectious disease, and humanitarian crises.
