Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>We are recruiting a Research Fellow or Assistant Professor to work on The OptiMAx project focused on integrated nutritional activities to increase immunisation coverage that aims to assess the potential impact of jointly programming monthly supplementation with small-quantity lipid based nutrient supplements (SQ-LNS) with immunisation services in Chad and Niger. LSHTM is a partner in this project; outcomes include new knowledge generation on the bidirectional relationship between vaccine-preventable diseases and malnutrition and supportive evidence for potential scale up of integrated nutritional and immunisation programmes in low- and middle-income countries.</p><p>The post-holder will be responsible for bringing forward an innovative programme of work to investigate the impact of the OptiMAx programme through mixed-methods process evaluation and gender analysis.&nbsp;</p><p>The post-holder must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic (Research Fellow) or doctoral degree in relevant topic (Assistant Professor). A willingness to travel to Chad and Niger occasionally and fluency in French is essential at Assistant Professor level. Further particulars are included in the job description.&nbsp;</p><p>The post is part-time 12.25 hours per week, 0.35 FTE and fixed-term until 31 March 2027. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>The&nbsp;<a href="https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/research/centres-projects-groups/digital-determinants-health-hub">Digital Determinants of Health Hub</a> is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to contribute to a research programme examining how digital environments influence adolescent health.</p><p>The postholder will lead the analysis of the UK Household Longitudinal Study data, working to a preregistered Statistical Analysis Plan. The research applies target trial emulation, to generate robust and policy-relevant evidence. Working closely with the research team, the postholder will implement analyses, produce reproducible outputs, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications and engagement with government stakeholders, including the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.</p><p>Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology, or a related discipline, and have strong experience in longitudinal data analysis and advanced causal inference methods (e.g., inverse probability weighting, or doubly robust approaches). They should be confident working with large-scale datasets in R or Stata, including data management and multiple imputation, and committed to producing transparent, reproducible research. The postholder will demonstrate strong organisational skills and deliver high-quality outputs to tight deadlines.</p><p>The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term for 10 months. Extension beyond this period may be possible, subject to programme needs. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>The Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology &amp; International Health is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Health Data Science (with a focus on machine learning) to <a href="https://www.lshtm.ac.uk/research/centres-projects-groups/neoshield">NeoShield</a>, a multi-country implementation research programme focused on neonatal sepsis and antimicrobial resistance, led by LSHTM in collaboration with the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust and the Zambia National Public Health Institute.</p><p>NeoShield integrates clinical, microbiological, and data science approaches to generate evidence and tools for safer, more targeted infection management in hospitalised newborns. The post-holder will lead the design, development, deployment and evaluation of NeoShield&#39;s two core machine-learning systems: a Clinical Decision Support Tool for neonatal sepsis diagnosis (predicting likelihood of infection and informing antibiotic decision-making), and a real-time ward-level outbreak detection system (using time-series analysis and anomaly detection methods).</p><p>The post-holder must have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant discipline (e.g., machine learning, data science, computer science, biostatistics, epidemiology, or another quantitative field), and applied experience in machine learning, with extensive hands-on experience of model development, testing, validation and deployment using real-world datasets in operational or research settings. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>We are seeking for an enthusiastic and productive team member with experience in metagenomics and diagnostics research. The postholder will be clinically qualified and will contribute to studies focused on developing and conducting studies focused on developing next generation sequencing diagnostic (molecular and serological) approaches for patients with fever, including those returning from outside the UK and those with neurological presentations. The applicant will be expected to undertake a PhD as part of this post. There will be excellent opportunities for publication, and outputs crucial to public health decisions.</p><p>The postholder will work directly with Professor Emma Thomson and Professor Michael Marks, and collaborators at UKHSA. This work is a collaboration between the London School of Hygiene &amp; Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), the Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory (RIPL) at UKHSA Porton Down, and the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR). The successful candidate will be based primarily at LSHTM but will work closely with investigators and facilities across all partner institutions.</p><p>The successful applicant must hold a postgraduate degree (such as an MSc) in a relevant topic, be medically qualified with a GMC license to practice and Clinical experience relevant to Infectious Diseases, Microbiology or Virology &ndash; (e.g. specialty training or equivalent experience). They should have experience developing or personally carrying out diagnostics metagenomics either wet-lab or bioinformatical.
