Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>The Department of Health Services Research and Policy (HSRP) is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Project and PPIE Manager. The successful candidate will work with Principal Investigators (PI) leading major NIHR funded projects. These projects are of strong policy-relevance, they make use of routine NHS data, they draw on large networks of collaboration in the UK, they intend to find effective and cost-effectiveness of ways to improve the quality of care, and have strong patient and public involvement (PPI) embedded throughout each project. The portfolio of work will include a &pound;2 million NIHR funded study called TACTIC <a href="https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR168433">https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR168433</a> which aims to reduce waiting times for curative cancer treatments. The study is led by LSHTM in close collaboration with the THIS Institute in Cambridge.</p><p>Key elements of this role include:</p><ul><li>Working closely with the PIs who are leading health economists, and with other senior staff&nbsp;</li><li>Providing expert project management support to academic staff&nbsp;</li><li>Managing contractual and budgetary relationships with the funder and collaborators</li><li>Drafting annual and other progress reports required by the funder with the support of academic staff</li></ul><p>The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, or have extensive relevant experience, along with experience of leading and facilitating PPIE activities on research grants and providing high-level administrative support in a Higher Education environment.</p><p>The post is available full-time or part-time, 21 - 35 hours per week, 0.6 &ndash; 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 October 2028. The post is funded by the NIHR and is available from 01 July 2026. Core responsibilities, including the management of complex projects and work on PPIE, will be required regardless of FTE. The number of projects assigned will be adjusted in line with the agreed working hours.</p><p>The salary will be on the LSHTM salary scale, Grade 6 in the range &pound;45,728 - &pound;51,872 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. This includes preparation of funder financial reports, monitoring income from funders, raising supplier invoices, approving high-value transactions, and providing guidance on funder terms and conditions.&nbsp;</p><p>The post-holder must have higher education to degree level or equivalent, or equivalent relevant experience.             <p id="isPasted">Medical Research Council/Uganda Virus Research Institute and London School of Hygiene &amp; Tropical Medicine Uganda Research Unit (MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit) is one of Africa&rsquo;s leading research institutions. Established in 1988 to improve the understanding and control of the HIV epidemic, the Unit has evolved to address a wide range of pressing global challenges &ndash; from emerging and re-emerging infections to non-communicable diseases. &nbsp;</p><p>The Unit&rsquo;s science is structured around three interlinked research Themes: Viral Pathogens, Vaccine Research, and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), each led by a senior scientist and supported by strong social science integration. The NCD Theme aims to undertake world-leading research to understand how local genetic and environmental exposures, such as infections and malnutrition, shape unique manifestations of NCDs in sub-Saharan Africa. Better understanding of the fundamental underlying mechanisms will inform the best ways to prevent and treat these disorders. Current focus areas of research are cardiometabolic disorders (notably diabetes), mental health, health and quality of life of people with disabilities, and emotional stress and violence, particularly in adolescents and young people.</p><p>The MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit is now seeking to appoint a new Theme Lead for NCD Theme.
