It provides oversight of the PGR lifecycle, alongside responsibility for data analysis, reporting and planning. The post-holder will support service improvement, ensure compliance, contribute to an inclusive PGR experience, and provide line management, requiring strong analytical, communication and organisational skills.</p><p>The post-holder must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience and substantial experience supporting PGR activity in UK higher education, alongside knowledge of PGR regulations and quality assurance requirements. This is a busy and varied role that requires the post holder to: prepare financial reports for funders, monitor income from funders, raise supplier invoices, approve high-value financial transactions, provide guidance on funder terms and conditions, and provide an efficient service to academic and professional services staff in the faculties.</p><p>You must be educated to a higher education to degree level or equivalent, or equivalent relevant experience. The post-holder must be confident with prioritisation and independent working but also able to work as part of the team and flexibly when required. The Department benefits from state-of-the-art facilities and strong collaborations, many of which are with partners in disease endemic countries.</p><p>The Department of Infection Biology is looking to appoint a Research Fellow to join the highly successful and supportive team laboratory team of Prof Jose Bengoechea at the main Keppel Street building in London.</p><p>The postholder will work in a multidisciplinary project aiming to dissect the gut colonization stage of the human pathogen Klebsiella pneumoniae as part of a Medical Research Council-funded programme grant. This will involve in-depth analysis of the interface between Klebsiella and the gut microbiome, leading to the discovery of microbiome consortia with enhanced colonization resistance. The postholder will also unlock the molecular events leading to the pathogen crossing the intestinal barrier. The work leverages in vivo and ex vivo models (gut organoids, fully differentiated intestinal epithelium), imaging, and high-throughput screens.</p><p>The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic, relevant experience in molecular microbiology of bacterial pathogens, and in tissue culture (macrophages or epithelial cells), relevant experience in confocal imaging, or scRNA-seq/RNA-seq. The roles of Chair and Deputy Chair of the Council are separated from the role of LSHTM&rsquo;s Chief Executive, the Director.</p><p id="isPasted">Council has two vacancies for the role of independent member of Council. The role holder will work as part of the wider Student Support Services team in providing both reactive and proactive support to students.</p><p>The Mental Health Advisers main focus is in responding to the mental health and wellbeing needs of School-based students including those with a diagnosed mental health condition.</p><p>This role involves contact with students and applicants, case working individual support, making recommendations for academic adjustments and in assisting students with access to NHS and specialist support services as well as triaging and making referrals to other LSHTM staff as necessary.</p><p>You should be Educated to a degree level or equivalent (qualified by experience) and a professional qualification in a relevant clinical or healthcare discipline (e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Counselling/Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy etc.). You should also hold experience in crisis intervention/responding to mental health crises and experience, or knowledge of the issues of working in a Higher Education context. Our mission is to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.</p><p>This post is a joint appointment between the <strong>International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH)</strong> and the <strong>Global Health Economics Centre</strong> &mdash; two world-leading groups at the forefront of global health research and policy impact.&nbsp;</p><p>Despite significant progress, over a billion people worldwide live with preventable or treatable vision impairment &mdash; the vast majority in low- and middle-income countries. With the planned 2030 Lancet Commission on Global Eye Health (led by ICEH) and growing funder consensus, there is urgent demand for rigorous health economics evidence to move eye care from donor-funded charity to a core feature of self-sustaining national health systems. The post-holder will be central to producing it.</p><p>You will join a team working on an exciting and highly impactful research portfolio, with scope to develop new studies. Current work includes economic evaluation of the EARN Trials (testing the economic impact of near vision glasses in Kenya and India); cost-effectiveness analyses for the CHERISH Trials integrating primary eye care into WHO/UNICEF childhood illness programmes; methodological research on QALY and DALY valuation for vision impairment; and development of health economics modules for population-based eye health surveys. You will also contribute to return-on-investment and sustainable financing research, help coordinate an international network of health economists in eye health, contribute to the 2030 Lancet Commission, and support LSHTM teaching and student supervision. The role involves travel to project teams primarily in Asia and Africa.</p><p>The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in a relevant topic (Health Economics or closely related discipline), &nbsp;strong and demonstrable understanding of economic evaluation methods, through formal training and experience, experience of designing, conducting data collection and analysing health economics studies.
