Research Fellow (Physiologist)

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at LSHTM to work on a new UKRI-funded study in the field of climate change and health entitled THERM-UK. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a large multidisciplinary collaboration between LSHTM, the Met Office, Oxford Brookes University, UCL, University of Exeter and University of Leeds that will inform the development of solutions for temperature-related health impacts in the UK.  

The candidate should have a doctoral degree in physiology and be familiar with methods and technologies used to measure human physiological responses to high ambient temperatures. Familiarity with using telemetric data recording equipment would be an advantage. 

The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term for 24 months. The post is funded by the UKRI and is available from November 2024. 

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £43,947 - £49,908 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
