The Faculty of Public Health and Policy is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Health Economics/Epidemiology/Biostatistics, as part of an innovative research programme on quantitative methods for personalisation. The post offers an excellent opportunity to provide rigorous evidence for informing clinical decision-making, by applying advanced quantitative approaches to large electronic health records (EHR) datasets. The postholder will work on an NIHR-funded project that evaluates alternative second line drug treatments for patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The post will involve working closely with colleagues in the EHR group, the  Centre for Health Economics in London (CHiL), the Centre for Statistical Methodology:, and a research collaboration with the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. 

We seek an outstanding individual with excellent quantitative skills, and the flexibility to learn and apply new methods for evaluating health care programmes. The appointee must have:  a doctoral degree in health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, medical statistics or a related field, expertise in applying advanced quantitative methods to large, complex datasets, and evidence of excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate orally and in writing. The appointee will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching and participating in Faculty and wider School activities. This full time post is for two years. The salary will be on the Assistant Professor salary scale (Grade 7), £46,704 to £53,495 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
