We are seeking a Research Fellow for the Centre for Global Mental Health (CGMH) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) to join the Mental Health Innovation Network (MHIN) team as Knowledge Exchange Officer and Platform Coordinator.

MHIN is a collaboration between CGMH and the Department of Mental Health and Substance Use at the World Health Organisation (WHO). Together, we work to increase uptake of evidence-based innovations for mental health care in low-resource settings. Our website,, has attracted over 3000 members and visitors from virtually every country in the world. We create and curate content on key topics relevant to mental health service providers, researchers, policy-makers, funders, students, and advocates around the globe—from podcasts to research summaries, training manuals to toolkits.

Reporting to the MHIN Principal Investigator(s), the Research Fellow will support the general management and operations of the MHIN project, working closely with a team of 4-7 London-based staff, as well as with the MHIN-Africa secretariat in Cape Town and colleagues at the WHO. Primary responsibilities include managing knowledge exchange strategy deliverables, including development and commissioning of web content and knowledge exchange products, and managing the MHIN website and its functions; contributing to the strategic direction, visibility, and sustainability of MHIN, including team and project management, relationship management with key stakeholders, actively seeking out funding opportunities and developing bids, and promoting MHIN externally. The role holder will also provide ongoing support to MHIN’s first regional network (MHIN Africa) and proactively exploring opportunities for additional hubs and provide teaching and student support.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Research Fellow to accelerate her or his career in global mental health by gaining the contacts and experience in knowledge exchange, relationship management, and grants management necessary to lead large-scale research projects.

The successful candidate will have a Master’s degree in Global Mental Health, Public Health, Health Policy and Systems Research or a related subject. They should have the ability to lead on complex projects, have excellent organisational skills; attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary and multicultural scientific team. Experience in managing a website and strong relationship management skills are also essential. Management experience, including responsibilities for line management and/or grant management would be an advantage.

The post is based in London at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. It is funded until 30th April 2018 with strong likelihood of extension. The salary will be on the Academic scale, Grade 6 scale in the range £38,533 - £43,759 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the USS Pension Scheme is available.
