Trials Assistant

Department of Medical Statistics

Salary:  £25,261 to £27,178 per annum, inclusive.

We are looking to recruit a Trials Assistant to work in close collaboration with other members of the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) team. The role will be in the Medical Statistics Department and will join an expanding team running a portfolio of clinical trials in the UK. This is a great opportunity to work with a team of experienced trial managers, data managers and statisticians while developing a career in clinical trials. The post holder will report to Steven Robertson, Senior Data Manager.

The post-holder will provide effective communication with health care professionals, administrative staff and any other organisations involved with the trial. They will accurately record and distribute minutes from meetings and provide telephone cover for the trials team. They will assist with preparation for internal and collaborators’ meetings, preparing trial documentation, maintain filing systems for paper and electronic documents and maintain up to date records on study databases. Other tasks will include timely processing of expense claim forms, organising travel for senior staff members and ordering supplies for the trials team and research sites. They will be expected to be the main contact point for participants who are involved in the safetxt trial.

Candidates should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, have experience using Microsoft Office applications especially Excel and Word and have excellent communication skills, including confidence in dealing with telephone and email enquiries. In addition, candidates must have a methodical and meticulous approach. It would be an advantage to have experience working in medical research or the NHS. 

The post is full-time, based in London and is funded for 12 months. The salary will be on the Professional Support scale, Grade 3, in the range £25,261 to £27,178 per annum (inclusive). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Director’s Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
