The Maternal and Newborn Group within the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health, linked to the MARCH Centre at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Health Economics.

The post holder will be responsible for a programme of methodological and applied research regarding economic evaluation of maternal vaccination using group B Streptococcus (GBS) vaccines that are currently being developed. The work is part of an international consortium funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and involving researchers at LSHTM, WHO and partners. This programme of work is expected to guide investments into developing candidate vaccines, and subsequent country decision-making about vaccination programmes. It has a high probability of having major impact on maternal and child mortality globally.

The post holder will work closely with Professor Joy Lawn and Professor Mark Jit, as part of a multi-disciplinary team of health economists, mathematical modellers and epidemiologists.

The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in a relevant subject such as health economics, statistics, epidemiology or a quantitative science/social science, an excellent publication record in high-impact academic journals. Experience in designing and implementing economic evaluations such as cost-effectiveness analyses, ideally of infectious disease and/or maternal and child health interventions would be an advantage. This full-time appointment is based in London at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is available immediately until 29th September 2020. Salary will be on the Academic Pathway, grade 6 scale £38,533 to £43,759 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, depending on experience and qualifications. Appointment will be subject to LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave allowance is 30 days per year, in addition there are also fixed discretionary ‘Director’s Days’. Membership of the USS Pension Scheme is available.
