How to Apply

How do I know what the current vacancies are?

Our current vacancies can be found on this site by selecting the vacancies link in the top navigation, alternatively you may follow this link to view the current vacancies.

The current vacancy list is updated daily with new vacancies and information about how to apply for the position and any other information which is relevant to the position. As soon as the closing date for a vacancy has passed it will no longer be available on the site and applications for this vacancy will no longer be accepted. The closing date is displayed alongside all vacancies so please ensure you are aware of the closing date for any vacancies you wish to apply for.

How to apply for a vacancy

Making an online application
We recommend making an online application, as the process is quick and user friendly.

If you wish to make an online application you will need to register to access the secure application part of this site. To register you simply need to provide some personal details which will go someway to completing the first stage of the application process. Note, you will be able to change this information at Stage 1 of the application process if required.

Once you have registered you will have access to the secure application process, which consists of eight simple steps in which we will ask you for the information required for your chosen vacancy. You will need to complete each step fully before you can submit your application for consideration. Note, while you are proceeding through the online steps none of your information is available to LSHTM. Only once you have submitted the application in the final step will your application be available for consideration.

You do not need to complete the whole application process in one go. If you do not have time or the information required is not at hand you may complete the rest of the application at another time. As you proceed through each step of the application process your details are saved and so when you return the information you entered will be retained. To login to complete an application, or to submit subsequent applications, simply login using your email address and the password you created when you registered.

Submitting a postal application
Postal applications are accepted, however we would like to encourage you to apply on line as the system is user friendly and simple to complete. However if you would like a paper application pack these are available from Personnel Office, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Keppel Street, London WC1E 7HT Telephone: 020 7927 2203 Fax: 020 7636 4771.  Alternatively you can email jobs@lshtm.ac.uk to request a pack by email. Please note the information sent to you will be exactly the same as the information on our website and you should allow at least four working days for the information to arrive with you.

Once we have received your application

If you apply online you will receive an automatic email confirming receipt of your application. Normally, you should hear from us within six weeks if you are shortlisted for interview, otherwise you should assume you have been unsuccessful.

How will you know the decision of your application?

Due to the large number of applications we receive for vacancies, if the University has not contacted you within six weeks of the closing date, you should assume that you have been unsuccessful.
