The CRD (Faculty of ITD) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer / HARP International Study Coordinator.
The successful applicant will have a post-graduate degree level qualification or strong proven practical experience in the research field; proven technical expertise in the quality management of clinical trials related to diagnostic performance; experience in clinical/laboratory procedures in research and collaborative research involving human clinical, epidemiology or laboratory outcomes; proven skills and experience in multi-centre project management; and experience in strategic planning and development.
The post provides an opportunity to be involved in a first study of the simultaneous evaluation of currently existing cervical cancer screening strategies against histological endpoints conducted among HIV-infected African women. HARP, which is a collaborative project funded by the EC's FP7 Programme, is also the first rigorous evaluation of CareHPV in an African setting. HARP is a formal collaboration between LSHTM, University of Witwatersrand (South Africa), University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) and University of Montpellier 1 (France). The post holder will be required to provide inputs into the study design and methodology and to co-ordinate the study on a daily basis; liaising with study sites and collaborators in Africa and Europe; coordinating the collection of samples in close working partnership with the collaborators; reviewing relevant published literature; recruitment of participants and data collection; setting up and managing databases; performing statistical analysis; preparing study reports; contribute to the teaching/lecturing at ITD/CRD; and helping to draft scientific papers, presentations and future grant applications.
This is a full-time position, funded by the EC’s FP7 Programme, with a starting salary on the Academic Lecturer scale (starting salary of £41,627 per annum inclusive) and be based at LSHTM (London). The post is available from 1st October 2012 and will end on 30th April 2014 (19 months initially), with the possibility for further extension, depending on successful grants applications.
