Scientific Officer

We are seeking to appoint a full time Scientific Officer to work on an exciting project investigating the interaction between malaria parasites, mosquitoes and their hosts. The project will be laboratory based and will involve assisting in experiments that relate to mosquito infection with malaria parasites and aspects of chemical ecology as part of a new BBSRC-funded project.

The successful applicant will have a science degree in medical entomology or parasitology (or equivalent work experience) specialising in the control of mosquito vectors, with some previous experience of entomological trials. Some knowledge of chemical ecology, vector ecology and behaviour, study design, data management and statistical methods would also be advantageous.

The applicant also should also have excellent teamwork, organisational and scientific skills, and should be ready to undertake independent research.

The post is funded at 1.0 FTE for a period of 36 months from August 1st 2012.  Salary is £26,607 per annum, inclusive.
